DATA FORMATS [Draft/Input needed]
Level-0.00 image data (raw, uncalibrated data, as delivered from site to U of Calgary) are stored in Portable Network Graphics (PNG) format. A tEXT chunk provides extensive information about each image and environmental conditions [Description of all tEXT keys to appear here]. The sBIT chunk is also used, as our software is also to run on Series 200 camera heads (12 bpp). There are currently numerous applications for displaying PNG images, and for converting to/from the PNG format to virtually any other image format (some care has to be taken in ensuring that applications are used that preserve vital chunk information across conversions).
Level-0.50 image data: quick-look browse product in CDF format for distribution [TBD] or GIFs with in-frame annotation ala FMI?
Level-1.00 image data (Rayleigh calibrated and uniformity corrected) are also stored in PNG format. In addition to the Level-0.0 chunks, there are also pCAL, sCAL,and tIME chunks.
Level-2.00 image data: [TBD]
